The CH Sludge Thickener is a gravity thickening system designed to consolidate sludge in circular sedimentation basins. As solids settle and accumulate in the thickening zone, water is released from the sludge blanket and flows upward toward the overflow channels.
A rotating scraper and picket system gently moves the settled sludge toward the centre of the tank while helping release trapped liquid and gases. The system provides a simple and economical solution for sludge consolidation in municipal and industrial water treatment applications.
Gravity thickening separates sludge into different zones within a circular basin. The upper layer contains relatively clear liquid, while the sedimentation zone contains denser sludge moving toward the thickening area.
In the thickening zone, solids accumulate and form a sludge blanket. The weight of the incoming sludge compresses the material below, allowing water to escape through the sludge layer and move upward toward the overflow channels.
Vertical pickets gently stir the sludge blanket, helping release trapped gases and liquid while supporting movement of the concentrated sludge toward the centre of the tank.
The CH-T Series is designed for circular concrete tanks with tank bottoms sloping toward the centre. Material and equipment configuration can be selected according to project and site requirements.
